City wage tax calculator Philadelphia / Philly wage tax (2026)
Sample take-home: $62,654.00 a year · $5,221.17 a month · $2,409.77 biweekly.
Tax year 2026, Pennsylvania, single, standard deduction, no 401(k).
Philadelphia withholds a city wage tax on salaries, wages, and commissions. That is not Pennsylvania’s flat state income tax, and Takehome Cash does not add it to the stub. City of Philadelphia rates effective July 1, 2026: 3.735% resident, 3.425% non-resident. This page preloads Pennsylvania so you see state-plus-federal-plus-FICA, then explains the extra city line you still need to count.

Residents owe the wage tax no matter where they work. Non-residents owe it on Philadelphia work. If payroll does not withhold it, the city’s Earnings Tax is the self-pay version of the same rates. On an $80,000 wage, 3.735% is $2,988 a year ($80,000 × 0.03735) as a city-only multiply — that figure is not in the calculator output.
Ohio city income taxes (often collected through RITA or a city) are the same class of gap: methodology lists Ohio locals as omitted, just like PA EIT besides this Philly note. NYC is the one local we do model, as an opt-in on New York. We are not building a city-by-city farm.
Use the Pennsylvania calculator for state tax, then add the published city rate if you live or work in Philadelphia. Not a Philadelphia Department of Revenue product. Reviewed October 2, 2026.
Engine estimates for tax year 2026 — not tax advice or a pay stub. Omits local taxes, most credits, and SDI/PFML. See methodology.

FAQ
Is Philadelphia wage tax in this calculator?
No. The engine has Pennsylvania state income tax only. Add the city rate from phila.gov (3.735% resident / 3.425% non-resident from July 1, 2026).
Do I pay it if I live in the suburbs and work in Philly?
Non-residents who work in Philadelphia generally owe the non-resident rate. Confirm with the city. We do not decide residency.
What about Ohio city tax?
Also omitted. Same “notes, not a city farm” rule. NYC is the optional local we encode.
