Overtime paycheck calculator (2026)

Overtime changes the annualized wage. This calculator does not apply a 1.5× FLSA premium automatically. Raise hours per week (for example 45 or 50) or raise the hourly rate to include the premium you actually earn, then we apply 2026 federal, FICA, and state tax to that higher annual gross.

That’s $58,500.00 a year at 45 hours/week.

Taxed as supplemental wages (22% federal flat, plus FICA and a simplified state line).

Estimate only — not tax advice or full tax software. 2026 federal brackets and a simplified state model. Locals other than optional NYC, CA SDI, and WA Cares are omitted. Confirm with your pay stub or a tax professional.

The calculator sample starts as a single filer. Change filing status above to see married or head-of-household take-home on this same wage. Numbers update as you type.

A common sketch: $25 × 40 = $1,000 regular plus 5 overtime hours at $37.50 = $187.50, or $1,187.50 a week. Type $29.69 as the hourly rate at 40 hours, or type $25 at 47.5 hours — both annualize near the same gross. The second is easier if your week is stable.

More hours can push you into a higher federal bracket and use more of the Social Security wage base. State tax follows the same annualized wage.

Unpaid weeks and variable OT are not modeled. Use a typical busy week, not your highest week, if you want a year-long estimate. Reviewed August 24, 2026.

FAQ

Do you multiply overtime by 1.5?

No. Type hours or a blended rate that already includes the premium you are paid.

What about double time?

Same idea: include those hours in the weekly total or blend them into the rate.

Salary and overtime?

If you are overtime-exempt, extra hours may not raise cash pay. Use annual salary mode instead.
